Emergence of Murhu Nari Shakti Kisan Producer Company Limited

In 2017, under the flagship programme of Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives (CInI) – Lakhpati Kisan™ Smart Village – a strong focus was placed on creating irreversible impact, building resilience in rural communities, and ensuring women’s institutions spearhead the development process. With this vision, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) facilitated the formation of a Women’s Apex Community Institution in Khunti district of Jharkhand to lead and sustain development activities at scale.

To institutionalize these efforts and provide a formal business platform for women farmers, the Murhu Nari Shakti Kisan Producer Company Limited (MNSKPCL) was registered on 5th March 2018, with progressive women leaders from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) elected to its first Board of Directors. Since then, MNSKPCL has grown into a resilient, women-led Farmer Producer Organization (FPO), driving collective action, sustainable farming, and improved market linkages for thousands of small and marginal farmers in Khunti.
